PPG Meeting – 01/07/24

Attendance

Staff: Beth Caldwell, Anna Kumar, Louise Kumar

Patients: Mike, David, Martin

PPG Attendance
We discussed ways in which we can improve PPG attendance, since Mike has been in the waiting room to help with online access, we have had more members signing up to the PPG. Of course it is hard for everyone to attend physical meetings, so we discussed ways to make the PPG more accessible, such as:
– Changing the meeting times around
– Inviting members via teams
– Changing the location of the meeting e.g. holding an open meeting in the waiting room for anyone to attend

Anna will also reach out to the members to see what dates and times are more suitable.
Practice Improvements
We discussed ways in which the practice could be improved and highlighted certain issues such as:
– Coffee mornings should return
– The phone lines are still bad (this will be improved hopefully soon)
– Occasional appointment delays – it was noted that most times this cannot be helped, but the way the clinician handles the situation is important
– The door to exit is not accessible, the sensor to open the door is not easy to reach, especially for wheelchair users
– More awareness needs to be made about other services such as the Community Link Workers, we suggested inviting Joanne, our CLW, to a PPG meeting

Aside from this it was noted that there has been an improvement in the reception team and in the way they communicate with patients.

It was suggested that maybe our PPG have a meeting with a PPG from another practice to compare services.
Cancer Awareness
We would like the PPG to help us with our Cancer Awareness, which may involve handing out useful information in the waiting room or helping us create leaflets and advertisements. It was also suggested that we:
– Update our social media logos to reflect what we are raising awareness for
– Create more obvious advertisement in the waiting room
– Reach out to local businesses and public areas to display information
– Collaborate with community groups and help advertise them
