Community Link Workers

Introduction to Joanne McAvoy who works within the Primary Care Network, known as a ‘Social Prescriber’. Discussed her role which includes receiving referrals for patients with social issues, which can range from bereavements to housing problems who she usually keeps in touch with through regular phone calls. Within her job, Joanne can refer patients on to other services as well, such as support groups.

Practice Updates

Staff updates – introductions to Anna our Patient Communication Lead and Liam our Education manager. We have a new GP starting in the next year called Dr Mantle. Dr Ward has left the practice to be closer to home and Dr Leigh is on maternity leave but should be back by June next year. Beth is now Practice Manager after Michelle’s departure.

The GP alliance will now be working in Kumar Family Practice from 6:30pm until 9pm to see any out of hours patients, they will also be covering our Wednesday afternoons. Should anyone require an out of hours appointment they need to phone 01942 482848.

Patient Feedback

Website isn’t user friendly, our website has recently changed and is a lot more difficult to navigate, too many ‘dead ends’. On our social media page the post order isn’t correct.

AskMyGP was closing a lot – we have recently changed our opening times to be more consistent, the new times can be found on our Facebook and website. Patients also wondering if there is a way to change their AskMyGP password without contacting reception – this has been checked there is a forgot password button when logging in.

Patients aren’t notified when their medication is up for review, it just doesn’t show up to request online. If this happens, patients need to use the comments box and type in any medication they need but are unable to request.

We are no longer having ‘registered GPs’, patients can see any doctor depending on availability.

Liam will be attending the next meeting to discuss our role as a teaching practice and what his job as an Education Manager entails.

The next meeting will be in January, we will look to recruit more PPG members in the meantime with an aim to diversify the group.
